And Then There Were Four...

Read this on TodayOnline about PBL/Melco pulling out of the casino IR race and I begin to wonder.

WHAT IF, at the rate of bidders dropping out of the race, we end up with ZERO bidders?

I tell you that would be the greatest joke man! Then whoever, in charge of this development project can go bang wall and die man! Wah lau eh, SI BEH MALU leh!!!

Acherly hor, I can understand why all these bidders dropped out of the race. It is not that they have insufficient resources or anything. It is probably more of the fact that they are increasingly getting pek chek with the Gahmen way of doing things. Damn bladdy frustrating one ok? Can't blame them for giving up.

Ai Pee, Ai Chee, Ai Tua Liap Nee, Ai Zhao Looi.

Of course, people will du lan one lah.... That's the problem with getting all these so-called scholars. All never seen the ocean before. How to steer the ship? Not say I have anything against scholars lah. But seriously hor, scholars nowadays compared to last time, really standard drop.

Coming back, I don't think we would end up with zero lah. After all, when Marina Bay and Sentosa each end up with only the last bidder, I think the contest over liao. No need to wait until the official release date liao. Gahmen will bend over and stick their nose into the Last-Bidder-Standing's ass and grovel for them to PLEASE STAY!!! I BEG OF YOU!!!!

By then, the bidders want to bring anything to the table also can liao. No need Guggenheim Museum liao. No need Universal Studios liao. No need Disneyland liao. By then, the winning bidder wants to decide on Uncle Ringo, Gahmen also LPPL liao.

That's the way the Gahmen peepur do things one lah. Everything is meeting, meeting and more meeting to get final consensus. By the time, they are ready for you, you already pek chek until die liao. You may argue that having a consensus is good what since it is the synergy of the consolidated wisdom around the meeting table. Please lah! The real reason is so that when things cock up, difficult to point finger at just one person lah.

Hmm... come to think of it, maybe that's why NTUC so malu in Shanghai losing so much money in the supermarket venture. Harlow, we are talking about Ch1na leh... one person buy one stick of chewing gum is already a lot of revenue liao leh.... still lose money. Kan si lang lao kwee ok!

Here's the thing, I don't mean to say that one should be reckless with the decision making lah. Just need to be less wishy washy and go straight for the jugular. Kill kill kill. Don't waste time wounding or torturing lah. Haven't we learned enough from all the Batman&Robin, James Bond, Get Smart episodes that we have watched when we were kids? Remember whenever the good guys get captured, they are always tied up with some contraption e.g. rope above a burning candle tying them over a shark-infested pool that was supposed to kill them spectacularly? Well, they always escape don't they?

Now imagine when the good guys were captured and the baddies just simply put a bullet in between the eyes. Confirm win liao, no?

*pant pant* Finally got it off of my chest. Thank you for listening. *pant pant*

Disclaimer: Again, the bladdy coward in me needs to cover my kar chng. Things I say here is what I think only lah. Maybe correct, maybe wrong. Don't sue me can?

Jay,
If there are no bidders, velly simple, SAF will take over. Croupiers will be mustacho women or sissy men. By the way, did you realise that none of the Singapore GLCs in the bid have dropped out yet? Heard they are interviewing mustacho women from the former Russian Olympic track team too :-)

hmmm...wishy washy is correct. mountains of paper and red tape. OTOH, if it really wants to do something, it doesn't care about the wishes of the populace either. Think LRT, TVMob1le and Buangkok white elephants....
Las Vegas is showing on AXN, that's cablevision. I have since lost interest in singapore channels....

Akk: Oh well, let's not beat them to a pulp for they have done well in other places and I think it is only fair to give them credit at places when they have done well.
SIA, Singtel, SMRT are a few examples that have made some unpopular decisions but turned out good at the end of the day.

hahaha...absolutely right! but hey, these issues were pretty long ago. Perhaps the best example I can think of that they did good is the publicity campaign for Reading and the NLB. That's the best thing that's ever happened which affected me very much. the new libraries are truly wonderful. Oh yah, I'm not casting stones with the system because I truly think I'm blessed to live in singapore and wake up everyday knowing I owe it all to my gov't and homeland. The gov't uses whatever fits us best instead of adopting a societal cookie mould. in this aspect, I truly respect my country's governing system. In fact, i believe that sociologists still have not been able to decipher exactly what type of society we have, being a mix of autocratic/democracy.

akk: I think the real problem is that we get so comfortable with what the gahmen has done so far that we got complacent and lazy.
How many of us are guilty of the "aiyah-somebody-else-will-take-care-of-it" syndrome?
As a result, we stop caring and leave everything in the hands of the gahmen. Hence the overwhelming lack of worthy opposition candidates, resulting in walkovers more often then not.
Lucky, our gahmen quite good. Can you imagine if our gahmen were to go the way of NKF? What would become of Singapore then?
I shudder to think.
