Mazda 6

I was at Hertz rental to pick up my car when I got into LA. Originally, I had a Ford Taurus reserved but kena sweet-talked into moving up to the Mazda 6 2.3L V6.

"For $5 more per day, I can give you the Mazda that is more fun to drive!"

iSucker.

As I walked to the carpark to locate my car, there she was, in Cherry Red, sitting there waiting for me.

Soooo pweety!!! *bimbo*

Well, if it was any consolation, it was indeed a more fun ride than the drab Ford Taurus that I had last time. Perhaps, due to the lighter body weight, it was more nifty, responsive and better gas mileage.

The only downside to this modest little sports sedan was the 16" sport rim wheels. The highway network in the US may be world class but I can say the same for the quality of the road surface. Perhaps I am spoiled back home by our smooth asphalt (especially more so during IMF) that the road here are relatively quite terrible. Problem with bad roads and sports rim wheels is the noise that it generates when traveling at high speed.

The reason why Mazda is lightweight is perhaps due to the thin shelled body and sound proofing is seriously lacking in this car. So much so that I can hardly hear the GPS navigation voice instructions, let alone enjoying the music on the radio.

Still for a relatively cheap sporty car, it may be a good option for the Singapore roads.

Sunflower: It is quite sexy looking isn't it? Japanese cars have come a long way since the days of little tin boxes.

Spinnee: I like this red. Not as loud as Ferrari Red but certainly a refreshing change to the usual drab silver that we see all over the place.

Pam: Ford is their car of choice but they do carry other makes albeit significantly lesser.
