Dumbass Of The Week XX

I don't get it.

What is with this obsession of being the first to report the death of a fellow human being.

Got prize ah?

Even if I dislike a person, I will never stoop so low as to wish for his/her demise.

LKY is a great man who has built what modern Singapore is today. Granted there are certain policies that I don't agree with (GRC remains a super sore point for me), I think overall, he has done a great job and kudos for dedicating his entire life doing so.

I tip my hat to that.

Anyway, I find it very distasteful to spoof a fake PMO website announcing LKY's imminent departure.

Bad taste! Bad! Bad!

I am glad that the police caught up with the dumbass who pulled the NOT FUNNY prank.

So, it is an offense where maximum penalty is a fine of up to SGD 50,000, jail sentence of up to 10 years or both, under the Computer Misuse and Cybersecurity Act.

As it turned out, the perp is allegedly just a gao ginah. This si ginah is not even 16 and so it's off to the juvenile court with him and not charged up the adult court? So quick question, does the above charges still apply to this si nongkia?

I'd bet this is going to scare him until he shat his pants.

Still, a fine, a prison sentence or both doesn't really fit the crime.

First off, if there is a fine imposed, who do you think will be footing the bill? The parents of course, since this sway zai bao is still in school. So to penalise the parents for the action of a dumbass kid seems hardly fair. Besides, it is punishment enough to have an idiot son.

Prison sentence? I supposed it'd be the Boys' Home for him given his age.

Wait.

Let's take a step back and look at this again. It was just bad taste with no real damage done. The country wasn't plunged into panic, the stock market didn't crash nor our neigbouring country(ies) declare war on us.

It appears that the clever and skeptically general public, sans a few #cough# Bruce #coughcough# weren't taken in.

So really.

No harm. No foul.

Besides, a criminal record would ruin the poor boy's future forever. Will we be too heavy handed then?

On the flip side, taking no action would be letting the boy off easy. What message would we sent to the rest, if so?

Surely, there must be a price to pay for his folly?

What then, would be the perfect punishment to fit the crime?

Perhaps to go into overkill mode to serve as a deterrent sentence, telling the rest of the people to think really really hard before they act?

I wait with baited breath to see what the court will come up with.

Whatever it will be, let make sure we make this stupid 熊孩子 brown his pants before anything else.

Dumbasses Of Punggol East

It all started when a certain microphone was plugged in wrongly, resulting in the speaker (worth SGD 550,000 per year) being replaced.

So here we are. A by-election for the Punggol East SMC.

I have been following the headlines in recent weeks and sad to say, most are head-shaking worthy, where you wonder what the hell these guys were thinking. I fear for the constituents of Punggol East SMC as they are at risk of voting in an idiot.

Dumbass #1

I'd give him credit for fast tracking the Rivervale Plazsa project as a carrot ahead of the election but to make such a statement is plain foolish.

If I were a voter, I'd be sure to vote for the best opposition candidate. That way, I get NOT ONE, BUT TWO! candidates working for my constituency. Dr Koh say "regardless" one right?

Dumbass #2

I find it laughable that SDP were to make such a insolent announcement as if they were the better party amongst the opposition. Let's look at the numbers. WP 6, SDP 0. Heck, they are not even second. Mrs Chiam's seat as an NCMP means even the SPP fared better.

So SDP to stand as candidate and should the candidate wins, he/she gets a seat in parliament while soooo generously giving the task of running the Town Council to WP.

Oh the nerve!

There was a later turnaround saying that it was misinterpreted as Dr Chee meant to say that SDP to stand for election then WP to run Town Council OR vice-versa. I think Dr Chee drink too much Glucolin again.

Dumbass #2.1

Here's the thing. If you KNEW WP would rebuff the plan, why even initiate it in the first place? Dumbass.

On a separte note, I disagree with Tan Kin Lian view on WP's refusal to talk to SDP as petty. I view it as NOT WASTING TIME.

Bertha did a spoof reply to SDP on behalf of Low Thia Kiang. Very well written as I laughed to the very last letter. KUDOS!

Update: SDP has decided to withdraw from the electoral race. OK. Good. 1 idiot down, two to go.

Dumbass #3

With only 4.45%, Desmond Lim lost his deposit in the last election. He was lucky that his result didn't affect the outcome of the poll. WP's Lee Li Lian's 41.01%, even with Desmond Lim's 4.45% (total 45.46%) still can't beat's Palmer's 54.54%. Had Desmond Lim garnered 9%, he would have been labeled Sabo King Of The Year.

So anyway, coming back, it looks like Desmond Lim has another SGD 14,500 to throw away. I really don't know what this guy is thinking. Even if he triples his votes this time round, it still won't win him the election. So why bother?

I am starting to suspect Desmond Lim being an undercover saboteur planted by the PAP. 无间道 siah!

Dumbass #4

For someone who has been working the West Coast constituency (South-West, if I may add), Kenneth Jeyaratnam suddenly shows up in the North-East wanting to win the election. Seriously??

Between the two Jeyaratnams, I admired the late Joshua Benjamin. A true fighter who earned his creds from the the ground up. Kenneth should do the same and not, according to some folks on the internet, ride on the coat tails of his late father.

I find it distasteful that he said that the WP candidate has been missing in action since GE 2011. Not that I am a supporter of WP, but I feel that it is not his place to judge since he himself didn't exist in Punggol East until what? Last week?

In any case, this is another sucker destined to lose his SGD 14,500 deposit.

To wind up this entry, here's the recap. We have a PAP candidate, a WP candidate and two sabo kings (independents excluded). Looks like PAP will retain this seat at the end of the day.

Dumbass Of The Week XIX

The news actually starts from 0:18.

Apparently this uncle who professed to be a Akido teacher, was upset at a bunch of unruly youths for not parking their bikes properly and making a ruckus late in the evening.

So he went back to change into his Akido garb armed with a wooden sword to want to "teach" these youths a lesson.

What ended up as most would have expect was that this uncle got beaten to a pulp.

So much for being an Akido teacher.

Dumbass.

Dumbass Of The Week XVIII

That's my tennis racquet. I had to cut the strings even though it was freshly restrung. The tension was way too low to be playable.

The tennis culture here is non-existent resulting in the absence of a proper tennis gear shop.

I snapped my last one and I brought my racquet and provided my own strings (Gamma Ruff 16) since my type of string is not very mainstream.

I spoke to the guy at the shop who expressed his hesitation but subsequently agreed to do it, after I assured him that I will not ask him for compensation if it was not done up to spec.

So when the first time the string was not done up to my standard, I ordered another set of strings (God bless Taobao.com!) and went down to the shop again.

I show him the racquet with the strings intact and showed him how low the tension was.

Then he confessed that his stringing machine was actually meant for badminton racquet only.

BADMINTON!???!!!

Then why you tell me ok when I ask for 60 lbs tension??!!

Early early say cannot do lor!!!

Liew.......

Guess I have to make a trip to Hong Kong just to string my racquet.

Very the 夸张 can???

It was a close call deciding between Vivian Balakrishnan for his gutter smear tactics and this totally brainless comment.

Here we have a lass who has the passion to want to do something for the people of Singapore and ended up being labeled irritating, self-righteous and unlikeable.

Well Wendy, here's a label for you in return.

Dumbass Of The Week XV

I stumbled onto this when I was updating my links during my blog migration to JayWalk Online.

They say imitation is the best form of flattery.

Well, I am not flattered nor amused when I found my entry being lifted wholesale and pasted as somebody's own.

That's just fucking plagiarism.

I am ok if someone uses my content as part of their entry but at least have the common decency to credit the author rightfully.

This is the entry in question and the Alfred fella's is here (http://alfredtheinstructor.blogspot.com/2008/05/jackass.html). No active link back to his blog. No way.

Click here of the image on the right for my screen capture in case it gets deleted.

As you can see, I left a comment on his blog voicing my displeasure as captured below.

It is unlikely I am going to get a response from this as the blog appears to be abandoned.

Nevertheless, he is still going to be my Dumbass Of The Week XV.

Dumbass Of The Week XIII

It was 24 Mar 2010 when George W. Bush and Bill Clinton went down to Haiti to visit the earthquake victims.

Bush was caught wiping his hand on Clinton's shirt after shaking hands with one of the victims.

Dumbass Move #1 for wiping his hand after shaking hands. Reminds me of how Dr Seet Ai Mee lost her 1991 elections after been spotted to be washing her hands after shaking that of a fishmonger.

Dumbass Move #2 for wiping his hand on Clinton's back in a sneaky fashion.

That's a really low move, even for a Bush.

Dumbass XII Aftermath

I am glad the people at McDoDo finally woke up their bladdy ideas and realised just how stupid they were.

I guess they were afraid of offending the Hindus as well, when they omitted the sacred cow from their cow senses. No?

Kudos for taking up the big ad of apology (click image on right to enlarge) in the $traits Times dated 22 Jan 2010. Please feel free the dock the wages of the PR department to pay for the big ad.

Still, I wasn't 100% satisfied with the apology as they made it sound the unforeseen problem came out of the blue and they responded promptly to resolve it. Hence, a well-deserved pat on their own backs for "being closely connected with the local market".

Yeah right. Bruff who? Let's face it, the problem was there like an elephant in the room the moment the idea to omit the piggy plush was mooted. It was there from day 00, so don't give me the crap that nobody saw it then.

We have celebrated countless number of Years of the Zodiac Pig in Singapore and it is only in 2010 (about 7,000 years since the beginning of the Chinese civilisation) when some Einstein woke up to the epiphany one day that a piggy plush toy (technically, it was a robot cat in a piggy suit) may offend our Muslim brothers and sisters?

Seriously, if the ad line had been "We're sorry. We were stupid.", I would have gone straight out of the house to the nearest McDonalds and order a full Big Mac meal with upsize, just to show my appreciation.
Yeah. Even if they are my least favourite burger joint.

Pam: Not sure about that but given the McDonalds has been in Singapore since the late 70s, surely by now they would have figured it out? Easily two Years of the Pig in between too.

Mistress Grace: The fact that it was the pig that was taken out is just a coincidence. I would have taken the same issue if say they take away the Ox for fear of offending our Hindu brothers or something to the same effect.

Picture Captions
Hey! What d'ya know? No Es!!
Major faux pas on the part of McDonald's Singapore marketing department that certain deserve the firing of every single one of them in that office.

So the Chinese New Year just around the corner that they are pushing a Doraemon plush toy promotion (Happy Meal?) where the cute robot kitty is dressed up in the costume of the 12 Chinese zodiac animals.

Well 11 to be exact as they yanked the robot cat in pig costume to take Muslim sensitivity into consideration.

Here's what gotten my nut sack all twisted and knotted.
  1. From a commercial point of view, how is selling an incomplete set going to work?

Seriously, it is like selling a Scrabble set but the E letters are missing. (You can still spell other words what? Like cats, work, mortician what. No need the E lah!
  2. The robot cat in pig costume was taken out so as not to offend the Muslims but have they considered the feelings of the Chinese by offering an incomplete set?

If this country is "regardless of race, language or religion", then why is one bending over to make way for another?

On this token, we may as well ban beef on their menus since many Buddhist and all Hindus do not take beef.
  3. I seriously don't get this paranoid overreaction. It is after all just a plush toy. A ROBOT CAT IN A PIG COSTUME!! How on earth is that going to be offensive to our Muslim brothers??!!

Are we to ban celebration of Chinese New Year every 12 years just because it's the year of the robot cat in pig costume?
We are in a country where we live together in harmony but surely as much as we respect the Muslim faith, our Muslim brothers would just as happy to respect our Chinese beliefs?

ARE WE NOT ON A TWO-WAY STREET HERE?

Common sense would have told you to just carry on the campaign i.e. include the pig and don't make a big deal out of it. I would dare say that no one would even notice anything amiss.

So some dude participated in a discussion on Plurk and got into some difference of opinions with a few folks in there.

And it just so happened that the two or three opposing views are part of the CowboyBar , then suddenly the rest of us are all "scums and villains"?

Dumbass Of The Week X

The award goes to all the STOMPers who were, from all the over-reaction comments, holier-than-thou and uptight anal about this.

I mean WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN? The practice of birthday bumming aka sabo (and now they call it ragging??) has been going on since I was a kid and I believe this dates to even earlier before my time.

Ragging? You gotta be kidding me. It's just a birthday bum lah!

I am not saying that I approve the practice but surely there is no need for such a big turn-of-the-nose reaction. Ok, if you have not had your education in Singapore, I can understand but for the rest of us who have studied in Singapore, please do not gasp and exclaim indignant shock like you are discovering this for the very first time.

Don't bluff.

I have had my fair share of being bummed and I looked back at them with fond memories. Admittedly, it may not be that amusing at the time of the sabo, it all was done in good humour and everybody will get his/her turn. So all is pretty fair.

What the classmates do to her is quite mild compared to what was done to me and me did unto others. I mean they even prepare shorts for her to wear to protect her modesty!

Trust me, I have seen, administered and received worse. Throw and locked inside a dumpster, 2-days-old stale spaghetti stuffed down the shorts, tied up spread-eagled and blasted by the fire hose, stripped and human rocketed into the lake, just to name a few.

The only downside to it is that there is a risk of getting carried away and the victim may accidentally get hurt.
From personal experience, I can tell you that the victim, despite all the protests, is a willing party (though not 100% at that time of being sabo-ed) to this. Sure, there were times where we chanced onto a victim that REALLY didn't want to be sabo-ed, we would just stop right there and then. That however, would be the really odd chance because the victim would have been pre-qualified prior to the bumming i.e. we know in advance that this victim 玩得起 before we bummed him/her. And it's because if the victim were to start bawling and/or worse, get violent, then all the fun and mood dies right there and then.

Coming a close second to the Dumbass Of The Week award goes to the editor who put these up just to evoke stupid over-reactions.

And what is with "elite JC"?

Ask me and I will tell you that I think that the editor is trying to fan the flames of even more negativity. The word "elite" in Singapore has a negative connotation to it and so it is no rocket science to figure out why the word "elite" was conveniently inserted into the title.

But this in a way, is expected lah. What do you expect from a mickey mouse media anyway?

The whole point of the sabo is to keep it within the group, not to show the whole world what you've done to your friends and them to you. So that one day a few years down the road when everyone catches up again, we can talk about the whole thing and have a good laugh over it. Recording these acts down is just plain stupid.

Dumbass Of The Week VIII

AsiaOne Motoring (03 Apr 2008) - Park Here At Your Own Risk

Xtralicious brought this article to the attention of the CowBoyBar where a car was vandalised as a result of the dumbass driver double parking and blocking the street.

Apparently, somebody (possibly a fellow driver who got blocked by her) ripped off both her side mirrors and scribbled a note (see picture) on the car's bonnet with a marker pen.

To that I say:

Nicely done. Stupid Koteks like this need to be schooled one time solid solid.

Bullshit #1

"...Said Mr Lau: 'Because of the renovations, many of the residents had also parked their vehicles there.

'It was fully occupied at the time and she didn't know where else to park...."

For the uninitiated, Sherwood Towers is adjacent to Bukit Timah Plaza where the old Bukit Timah Yaohan supermarket was. Right next to Beauty World where Clementi Road and Bukit Timah Road meet. The fact that she lives with her parents suggests that she is definitely no stranger to the vicinity and to say that she didn't know where else to park is just a lame lazy ass excuse to not wanting to park further. There are ample parking spaces in the area, of which the most obvious would be the one at Chun Tin Road next to the stretch of sarabat kopitiams where night birds frequent the place for their pratas and teh tariks. The car park there is relatively big in the sense that one could almost always get a car lot there and the fact that she reached home at around 2am in the morning would mean even greater chance of finding a space to park.

Bullshit #2

"...Said Mr Lau: 'I acknowledge that she was wrong to have parked in such a way, but technically, smaller vehicles were still able to drive past her...."

Technically my ass! Wrong means wrong! Trust me, it takes more effort to rip off two mirrors and pen a message on the bonnet than simple careful maneuvering around her car. To evoke such a big reaction only suggest that the car was most horrendously parked in a way that create such a big hassle for everybody.

This is self centered-ness at it's best. For the sake of one person's convenience, the entire street of parked cars around her has to suffer for it.

Even if Mr Lau was accurate in saying smaller vehicles were able to drive past her, then what about the bigger sized cars? What? Whole of Singapore only have smaller vehicles har? You think this is Republic of QQ har?

Think about it. The Honda Fit is already a small car. How many cars can you think of that is even smaller than that?

Count herself lucky that her windows weren't smashed for good measure and it rained.

Bullshit #3

"...But vandalising someone's vehicle is totally out of line and challenging the law..."

And illegal parking isn't challenging the law? This is a case of the pot calling the kettle black. While I don't condone vandalism, but this is a unique case where the car was damaged as a result of an earlier misdeed. Sure, vandalism is against the law but I am happy to see Street Justice being served as the Police got better things to deal with like trying to catch the Mas Selamat fella than to have to deal with idiot parking of a stupid dumbass brat.

Had she parked the car properly like a good civic-minded person, would she have gotten into this predicament in the first place. I am glad that Mr Lau said that they have both learned their lesson. Yes, vandalism is against the law and people should not take the law into their own hands but in a way some good did come out of this.

On another note. To have to get the police to deal with this type of stupid nonsense is just plain wasting of public resources, which to me is the bigger crime here.

I wonder if they will get CSI to dust the mirrors for finger prints, send the bonnet for handwriting analysis and send a team of investigators to sniff for witnesses?

How much would that cost the tax payer?

Well. I don't think it is right to take the law into your own hands though. I just take pictures and send them to Town Councils and/or Traffic Police. Just because someone broke the law doesn't mean you can break it too. Makes you no better than the other person.

The person must be mightily pissed off to do it. However, if it did happened to me, I would be cussing and swearing at the person and might call the traffic police. Definitely not to the extent of vandalism bah.
"this is not the first time the car has been vandalised" => I wonder wat they did to cause the first vandalism.
You know, she could actually have woken up earlier to drive the car to a "better" location or even ask her parents mah. Why the h*ll does she wan to ask her bf to come all the way down to help her move the vehicle!! Gosh!! pampered gal...

Dumbass Of The Week VII

I must have complained about this for like a shitload of times to the extend that even CowboyCaleb knows and feels my grief.

It is my ultimate luck to hire THE MOST CHAMPION KUM LAN CHAUFFEUR IN THE WORLD. Got GPS Navigation unit still can get lost??!!? WTF?

I can let the whole matter slide if this is too new tech for the retired ex-army truck driver but to have the audacity to criticise the device as "inaccurate" and "lousy", Lim Peh totally lost it.

Just last week, I had to goto GuangZhou to pick up some customers from Australia. You can tell who are the noobs and who are the old birds of the furniture customers by the choice of airports coming into my part of Spitland.

Guangzh0u and you are definitely a noob as most, if not all of the old birds would come in via HongKong and ShenZhen, but I digress.

Anyway, the problem with Guangzhou is that it is a bladdy pain in the ass to get there (and back), the journey each way averages between 80 to 100km and let us not forget the pain in the arse traffic in the Guangzhou city itself. To get there, be ready to allocate about 1.5 to 2 hours in addition to an empty bladder. Last friday, my journey up to Guangzhou took me 4 hours to reach my destination but that is another story sans GPS device.

Initially, the journey started off easily as there is only 1 highway to goto Guangzhou and so fine, no argument with the GPS navigation device. It was only when we hit Guangzhou city where the roads became increasing complex that my chauffeur started showing signs of cracking up.

Sure, the GPS device was not perfect as the map was slighted dated in the sense that there are times where the road ahead of us did not match the map as a result of ongoing roadworks etc.

Let me give you an example. Supposed that the map shows a straight road ahead to a junction 3km ahead. Instead, what you see in front of you is a fly-over fork splitting one to turn left and one to turn right i.e. no straight road for you. What do you do?

This was when he started a bitch-fest whining about how lousy this GPS device was and hence blaming it for us being lost. I was like HARLOW!! What is so difficult? There is a Green Line feature in the unit where it points to the ultimate destination and in that particular case, it was pointed 45 degrees to the right i.e. our set destination is ahead to the right. So by simple logic deduction, you take the right fork lor. What is so difficult??!!!

Next he started complaining about the GPS Unit going crazy as it kept announcing that it is recalculating route repeatedly. I was like HARLOW!! The GPS device had to recalculating route repeatedly was because he farking stupid kept missing the turn that the device was trying to tell him to! KNN.... device say turn right, he KNN kept going straight. OF COURSE HAVE TO RECALCULATE LAH, FARKING STOOPID KOTEK!!!

The GPS device also have a distance count down feature i.e. how many more km to destination.  Stoopid kotek, as he shall now be known henceforth, ignored the GPS instructions saying he had been there before and hence was familiar with the route. Thus "gave him the leverage" to criticise the lousy GPS device for recommending us the longer route.

Next thing we know, he was lost as it was obvious he was going in circles but remained silent to disguise his panic. Alas, the GPS device was not as forgiving as I could see how he was driving.

So here's how the distance countdown goes. 3.3km > 3.2km > 3.1km (we were travelling straight) > GPS says turn right > driver ignore and went straight > 3.0km > 5.4km > 5.5km> 5.6km > WTF???!! > We are now driving further and further away??!!!?

I almost lost it that day. I wanted to bash the stoopid kotek up, fire him on the spot, take over the steering while and kick him out of the car leaving him to figure out how to go home from Guangzhou.

But I didn't.

I would have scared my Aussie customers on board to death. Have to 保持形象. M... Must control Fist Of Death....

KNN, chor lim peh sibeh du lan.

Dumbass.

All I am concerned is that I can get to my intended destination within a controlled amount of time.

Dumbass Of The Week VI

Hiao Auntie send me this news article where "Ah Boy" from the local sitcom Phua Chu Kang was sentenced to 1 week in Detention Barracks (DB) which is the military equivalent to prison.

"Ah Boy" aka Marcus Ng Yi Loong (Picture left) may not ring a bell to many but if you were an ACS boy or old boy, you would definitely remember this asshat as the punk who dragged ACS (ex-Barker Road, now International) Principal, Mr Ng Eng Chin (picture below right),  through a year's worth of mud with false allegations of molestation way back in 2001.

Mr Ng Eng Chin (NEC, as he was more fondly known back then) was my Discipline Master during my time in secondary school. For all the years that I have known him since, NEC is a good and straight up guy in my books. So when the allegation that he molested Marcus during a counseling session, I knew right from the start that it was a bogus lie. There was never a doubt in every cell of my existence to believe that NEC would do such a thing.

At the end of the investigation which dragged over a year, he was unanimously cleared, by the Panel of Inquiry, of all charges. In most cases, it would be a great relief but our faith in NEC was so great that there was no relief to speak of as we knew from the start that the investigation was merely a formality and that acquittal was inevitable.

Yes, NEC was exonerated but to be dragged through the mud bringing stress and hardships to him, his family, friends and supporters was certainly uncalled for.

Marcus Ng as far as I am concerned is a trouble making delinquent that ought to be hantam one time jialat jialat.

I rolled my eyes when I read that his mother told the press that "He (Marcus) is a well-mannered, humble and respectful person despite finding fame early..."

It makes me wonder if his mom is of sound mind or deliriously in denial.

Let it be known that a year after the investigation, at the age of 17 and no longer in the school, was put on probation on charges of assault and theft and a year before this case, he was convicted and fined SGD 1000.00 for disobedience and non-compliance.

To this I would say to Marcus' mom. Well-mannered, humble and respectful. NOT!

By the way, here's an interesting tidbit that I bet most of you would not have picked up. Marcus' family hired Drew & Napier's Wendell Wong to defend them.

Of all people Wendell Wong. Oh, the irony!

Mr Wendell Wong was ex-Deputy Prosecutor and tracing further back was Head Prefect of ACSS'87, President of the ACJC'89 Students' Council Ex-Co and one of the youth leaders of the Barker Road Methodist Church. In other words, he is a true-blue ACS boy and here in the ACS family, when you mess with one of us, you mess with us. That how strong our school spirit is.

Click Here to see the Support For Ng Eng Chin page from the ACS Class of 1975.

1975!! That's more than 30 years ago. Old Boys from 30 years ago showing support and standing behind the good man. How's that for school spirit?

Anyway, kudos to Wendell for his integrity and discharging his duties without prejudice under the circumstances. To this, I am humbled for if I were in Wendell's shoes, I would have to request to have myself taken out of this case for I would sure to be the "goalie that would purposely leak a goal or two".

To Marcus,

I sincerely hope that you would spend the time in DB to seriously reflect on your past mistakes.  May you come out better and be a decent person.

If not, please continue to stay inside until you've truly learnt your lesson.

Try picking a fight with the warden or something.

Cheers.

I am glad to have put my son in ACS but so sad that NEC is no longer the principal starting Jan 08. Ok, pop quiz time. Take a close look at the picture and tell me what is wrong with it?

This happened a couple of days ago, when I was doing my product pricing for the coming new year and what you see there are stacks of costing for each SKU.

So there I was sieving though the data (and drowning in the process) and crunching the numbers, when suddenly all the pages started coming off in my hand as I flipped them to turn the page.

I was like WTF? Then as I looked closer to the staples, I realised what happened.

My dumbass secretary stapled wrong direction. Aiyoh... I mean if it were some sophisticated high-tech piece of equipment and she don't know how to use. Ok lor. Understandable. But a STAPLER???!!! Harlow, stapler also must teach how to use one meh? Zhun bor?

Dumbass Of The Week IV

Before anybody read further, I would like for you to goto AKK's entry first and I would like to add my take on this whole fiasco.

Like I said in the comments of AKK's entry, this is a classic debate of a Republican vs a Democrat. One side is the conservative "get-what-you-work-for" and the other asks for a safety net to take care of everybody.

I won't dwell into who is right and who is wrong as they can be no straight answer. Both Derek and Shu Min have their valid points.

However, what irked me was the attitude that Shu Min exhibited in her rebuttal to Derek's lament.

Surely, it would have been better if she could have showed a little empathy, compassion and sensitivity. Her holier-than-thou stand on her pedestal just bugs me up my ass.

Guess what? This is exactly the type of people that will inherit the gahmen as the current PAP is already like that liao. Her dad is a current Member of Parliament.

Apples don't fall far from the tree.

Granted that you may argue that we ultimately have the power to stop such people from entering parliament by virtue of our votes, what is to stop them from coming in via the back door? Can you spell G-R-C?

This elitism situation is starting to spin out of control and I don't like a single bit of it. There is the danger of voting in the village idiot just to spite the arrogant candidate. But think about it, we would still be at the losing end replacing a bigot with an idiot.

Speaking of idiots and bigots, Shu Min is certainly not an idiot for after all, she hailed from RJC. As for bigot, sadly there is no escaping for her.

Four more years till the next election. Four more years before the next parade of bigots, new and incumbent.

I fear for our future. I really do.

At this rate of self destruction and arrogance, I guess you can't help thinking but to move out of this place of felons.

The best part is, we are always striving to be first, but in the process of that, we forgo humanity and become narcisstic. All thanks to our environment nurtured by the gahmen, education sucks hella too in terms of moral education and character development.

What to do? Real Singaporean talents are either eliminated by those 'elites' 'cuz the elites play punk, or they have moved out of singapore. Even normal citizens can't do much, 'cuz they dun realise, unity = strength.

hey, this is fantastic... I can't believe she's so arrogant. no actually, I can. But what worries me more, is the unrepentent manner in which she blogs, with everything 'stupid' this and 'frigging' that. Is she not aware that she's actually blogging about someone ELSE? and that someone else has FEELINGS? It's the cold and calculated and frankly, very ignorant manner that she writes in, that worries me. there's a big big difference between naiveity and ignorance and unfortunately, she's demonstrated from her post and her reply, that she is very much in the latter category.

Incidentally, Singapore should start thinking about issues like age-discrimination. We can't discriminate against old/young people anymore, which basically means our job adverts can't say '30-40 year old manager required'. which i think is great. of course, there's nothing stopping the recruiter to then choose to hire a 30-40 year old, but at least we can't discriminate before the foot's in the door.

Akk: Well, Ms Wee too have quite a big chunk of education and more in the immediate future. Looks like all that is wasted on her.

Pam: The worse news is that there is a LOT of her in the same cookie cutter. We are doomed.

Ah 9: Perhaps come next cycle, the people of Singapore would be able to make a difference.

Carbimazole: Indeed!

Welcome to the blog, btw.

If enough people fear for our future, then, and perhaps only then, can there be change.

V_icks: Welcome to the blog. Funny how I was reading your blog when at the very exact moment, you were reading mine! Pretty freaky eh?

RUOK: We had 50,000 people in AMK who feared for our future. Let's bump that number up to 76,000 in the next elections. That would make it a nice 50.1% with that.

Now you got me thinking. What if PAP won the next elections but lose AMK GRC in the process? LHL would be out of a job and so who would be the next PM? GCK, LKY or somebody new?

:D Of course it's free...in the sense that everyone can lambast the politicians and others over here in the net...

...just like what that RJC girl did, commenting on another Singaporean's views.

Freedom, is to to accept all expression of opinions, whether it is agreeable to one or not, OR for or against.

Leaping Toufu: It's free only if it is confined to cyberspace. Try it anywhere else like print publication or broadsheet and you will find yourself out of a job or worse, sued till you lose your pants.

How's that for "free"?

I will agree with you on one thing and that is we are all free to express our own opinion be it right or wrong. However, with this freedom comes the accountability of taking ownership of your words. Be there to stand behind your words to counter any disagreement.

Take Ms Wee Shu Min's recently comments for example. Granted that she got blasted by the public for her comments. If she really believed in what she wrote, she should have continued to stand firm and fend off the objections with valid points to counter argue. If in the event that she is unable to assert her case, then she should back down gracefully, accept defeat and offer an apology.

Instead, she shut down her blog and go into hiding when the heat got a bit too hot for her.

I have no problem with her expressing her views even though I disagree. I only have problem that she just shut down her blog and go into hiding.

Tell me if this is not cowardice? Would we want such people to lead our country?

did you hear the mr brown take on the way elites say sorry?? it's damn farni - lucky I got my own office (is that elitism??!)...otherwise sure kena sack for laughing on the job...hehe.

agree with you re standing by what you say. what I don't get is how she can write what she wrote and not be repentent, or not even willing to stand by what she wrote. i think along the way someone must have erased the words 'humble', 'humility', 'grace', 'fortitude' out of her oxford dictionary.

Pam: This girl bugged me on 3 levels. First it was the stuff that I disagree even though I have to respect (albeit grudgingly) the fact that it is her opinion. When the people voiced out their disagreement, she couldn't counter any of the objections which in my opinion is conceding defeat.

We all make mistakes from time to time but nothing a sincere apology cannot rectify.

Sadly, that didn't happen.

Level 2 bug-ass was that under public pressure and the prospect of her dad losing his job, she gave a half-assed apology which kinda stoked the fire even more.

Level 3 bug-ass was that as the sentiments of the public get more and more heated, she just shut down her blog and disappear. How convenient!
=================
Now this got me thinking. I think Wee Shu Min's future in Singapore is over. Imagine her try to land a job here. Everybody she met would be going "Oh! So you are that elitist Wee Shu Min har?"

For a person who recently dissed 80% of the Singapore population, she is not among friends on this island.

Perhaps she will have to leave the country and settle somewhere else?

Now who would be a quitter then?
