Hole In The Firewall?

I can't believe it. I can actually access all the blogs without "special means"!!

Here's the story. As many are aware, I am based on Ch1na and being a country with super tight controls over information flow (second only to Singapore), almost all the mainstream blog hosts were blocked. I guess it was their blanket strategy against political dissidents from airing their views deemed undesirable by the central gahmen.

A few years back, it was worse. News websites like CNN, MSNBC, BBC, etc were blocked as well.

Well, I am happy to report that CNN and MSNBC (BBC still blocked) have since been unblocked and it was only 2 days ago that the various blog hosts surfaced to see the light of day too.

I started off using Blogger (that was before Blogspot came along) and only switched to Blog-City after the prior kena blacklisted.

Well, the good news is that Geocities, Livejournal, Xanga, Blogger, Blogspot, Blog-City, Blogsome and Lah.cc have all been unblocked.

The not so good news is that Blogdrive, Liquidblade and Wordpress remained banned.

Granted I am able to get around using certain "maneuvers", it is nonetheless a great welcome to be able to access directly without all the hassle.

Now this can mean one of 2 things.

1) The Cheena Gahmen is slowly letting up with the anal blocking of websites.

or

2) Someone in the Great Firewall of Ch1na control room forgot to turn off the tap.

Either way, I am still going to enjoy this delightful treat while it last.

sunflower: Me creative? I didn't draw that cartoon leh.

Ollie: You are right about that one. My bad. Oops.

Heather: Unfortunately yes. That's the other gripe to an otherwise very versatile blog platform.
My main gripe is still the fact that my comments always end up in the spam folder. Haiz.

heather: Once thing I've learned is that there is no such thing as a perfect place to live. For every good thing about the place, there is a not-so-good thing to even things out.
I supposed if there ever was a perfect place, I doubt if they have internet, cell phones and/or TV.
Oh well, we'll just have to make the best out of whatever's in front of us. *sigh*
