Arrival At Memphis

When I got off the plane at Minneapolis for a connection, I was greeting with a blast of -5 degrees blast of cold air. White vapours ooze out of my breath the instant I stepped off. Not a good sign of what's ahead when I finally get down to Memphis.

After 24 whole hours of flying, I finally reached Memphis for my layover. Grabbed my luggage and called the hotel for pickup. Was told that the car will arrive in 15 minutes.

OK fine. I'll wait 15 minutes before braving the cold and head out to the pick up spot.

So there I was, 15 minutes later at the agree pick up point but no car in sight. @#$@#%!!!

-2 deg and I could have sworn I saw a puff of white cloud when I farted.

I was ok, my shirts were layered. My legs feels fine even without the long johns. My Achilles' heel are my finger joints but they were well taken care of by my thermal gloves. Everything's fine except my forehead which hurts like you just had a Slurpee overdose. Brain Freeze!!!

Owww........

I was not happy to be waiting out in the cold for over 30 minutes when I called them again. I have to say that the hotel's service recovery was without doubt, one of the most impressive I have encountered.

Front Desk: I'm am sorry for the delay, Sir. Please go to the taxi station and take a cab over. We will pay for the cab fare. Just bring the receipt in when you check in later.

I was won over already.

I checked in and they were most apologetic for my freezing episode. I got upgraded to the Executive Floor and 2 free breakfast vouchers to boot.

Haiz.... we really need to learn from these guys when it comes to customer service. No one can guarantee 100% perfection and service failures do happen to the best of establishment. The level of service recovery speaks more volume than anything else.
The room was nice, although I don't exactly know what I need to have 5 pillows. No complains though.

The bathroom was very nice too with the vanity kit courtesy of Bath & Bodyworks. Mmm... Orange Ginger.... nice!

Was tempted to run a hot bath but was just too tired to do so. In end, it was just a quick shower and a very welcoming shampooing to get rid of the annoying sebum build-up.

Ahhhh......

Woke up at 5:30am. Must be the jet lag screwing up my time-zones.

Hang around for a while before going down for breakfast at 6am.

As you can see from the breakfast picture, very healthy hor? Just eggs and fruits?

Nah.... actually that was second round after a feast of bacon and sausages liao.

Hur hur hur......

I am soooo going to die early of clogged arteries and stuff.

Haiz.....

Jas: I pity her too. Hahahhaa.. Aiya, she'll always kick me away lo. I'm the kelian one k..

Jay: How come Singapore's service not like that huh? In fact, S'pore service industry kind of sucks. I especially hate those salegirls who follow me so closely -- like I'm going to steal something like that. Such a turn off. I'll always walk off instead of buying something.

kIm: Nice bolsters you have there!

Jaschocolate: Sad to say, customer service in Asia, not just Singapore, is years away from their American counterparts.

Anna: Cool weather is fine. Cold weather is not! Anything under 10 deg is not good. :(
Fortunately, temp for tomorrow is returning to 15 deg. :)

Akk: Actually also the fact that I am a regular at that particular Marriott lah. So from time to time, they'll throw some freebie my way.
