"Chinese Restaurants" In Kabul

"...In the fours years since the fall of the Te1eban, an extraordinary number of  "Chinese restaurants" have opened up in Kabul. Although they have bright neon signs and menus, and they do sell food, most are simply fronts for prostitution..." - South China Morning Post dated 13 Feb 2006

We have heard of the "rub-and-tug" health centres in our own backyard as well as the 'cut-and-blow" hair saloons in Ta1wan. Now we have "Chinese restaurants" in Kabul, Afghanistan, of all places.

I don't think these can get any more stranger liao.

I wonder what I would get if I order Cha Siew Pau?

Hmm....

prostitution is the oldest profession in the world. and it is everywhere...only thing is whether it is done openly (like gey1ang) or underground. the crackdown in kabul will force it underground temporarily. but then, the crackdown may just be a wayang show. the brothel keepers will just lie low for a few months and then the brothels-in-disguise will appear again. by then, the authorities will just turn a blind eye again and life goes on...
perhaps the paus come in different sizes of xiaolong pao, char siew pau, da pau... u order in accordance to what size u like lor! (me talking about paus here...dun read too much into it! i is innocent one, okay!)

mht: Spoken like a true expert! Respect. Respect.
I think an outright ban is not the wisest of moves as once they hide underground, it would be even more difficult to monitor and control them.
