Cars. Cars. Cars.

There has been the talk about dreams cars in quite a number of blogs that I've come across recently. Lynne talked about her Aston Martin DB9 while Gabrielle gushed about her Lexus SC430.

As for me, I have always been a big fan of German technology and it is no surprise that my dream car would hail from Deutschland. The reason for bring it up on this blog today is that I have a special announcement to make.

I have a new dream car.

Before coming to that, perhaps a mention of my recently discarded dream car is in order. A final farewell? A thank-you for all the years of my day dreams? Closure?

Well, it's the BMW 8-series. Either the 840 or 845 would be just fine. As long as it starts with an "8", I happy like f*ck already. The BMW-8 has been my dream car since the 90s and has always been. I started to google about it recently as it just dawned on me that there hasn't be any updates as far as news about the BMW-8 is concerned. Lo and behold. The BMW-8 is EOL (End Of Line) already.

From the looks of things, it is time for a new dream car...

Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present to you my new dream car...

*drum roll*

The Porsche Boxster-S.

There is just one thing about it though. In luxury-speak, this is quite a "low-end" car. People were asking why not the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish-S? Or the Maserati Spyder? Or the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder? Or the Ferrari Any-Model-Will-Do?

Answer is simple.

Two words.

Being Realistic.

The Boxster-S is probably nearer to Earth for me that all the other makes. The thing is, that when something is closer is to you, the more real this day dream would be.

Would I buy the car eventually? Maybe, maybe not. To me, a Japanese car makes more sense and besides, Japanese technology is also very much up there on par with the big boys these days (and drink less petrol!). Still, I wouldn't rule out the Boxster entirely. Perhaps one day, after allocating all the funds to all the necessary and important places and I still have an extra SGD 400k to blow, I may just consider getting it.

I also found out one thing about the Boxster-S from its technical specs.

The boot can fit my golf set.

This is certainly good news for my "Jay/2 + 7" year-old girlfriend. She can ride up front with me. Hor seh liao!

Ugly. I've test-driven Gab's, Zhe Bin's, and Jas' dream cars, haha. The SC is nice, but too bad it's rear-wheel drive, not easy to drive in snow. Audi TT very small, Beetle lagi worse!!! I dun mind a Mini-S for a fun car tho'.

Lynne: Yeah, I tested the Audi TT too. Not impressed.
Beetle is severely under powered.
I agree with you that the Mini would be a fun car to zip around in just like the Suzuki Cappuccino. However, the problem is that due to the hype over the Mini, it is so bladdy expensive in Singapore. Definitely lousy value-for-money. I won't buy it at that kind of ridiculous prices.
I also tested the Mercedes Benz 500 CLK but my favourite is still the Mercedes Benz S600 V12 engine. Raw Power at your finger tips. Yummmmm......
It was quite fun to cheong the highway in LA in the middle of the night. Damn shiok.
Will be heading back to LA again in April. Will be testing the Mercedes Benz S65. *drool*

I no have dream car de. As long as it's new (aka not 5 years old and above); 1.6l; sedan; auto; NOT proton, kelisa, etc.; can liao. Simple simple, practical de. *big grin*
Er.. the manager is the manager for BM. Not my manager. heee! Anyway, that was for a school project. :) Tried the Ford Falcon 4L car while I was schooling too. Spacious, smooth, quiet car. Good to drive for long road trip.
Last time, I did drive my boss's BM 3 and 5 series. Nice, smooth, heavy, quiet car with fast start-up. An eye-turner for a lady driver. Bwahahaha!! Din get a chance to drive his 7 series but personally feel that it's too big liao! Difficult to maneuver. Can't imagine the 8 series... biang...

Anna: True lah... given Singapore cars so expensive. A car that can drive you from point A to point B also buay pai liao.
Manager for BM i.e. Performance Motor har?
Anyway, these cars have to be a bit heavy so that they will be stable when traveling at high speeds. Japanese cars will tend to float a bit.
BMW-8 is not big in terms of size. It's a sports car model. Very sleek.

Jaschocolate: Super young = Super virile mah.... He may be a boy now, but you will make him a MAN... even before he enters NS. :P

Lynne: No chance on the AMG coz the reason I will get to test the S65 is because my friend bought one. He scoffs at the AMG which means that I also no chance to test liao. :(

Anna: Paiseh leh... no intention of buying so don't want to kachow them mah.
Well, in all fairness, the design and look of the BMW-8 is pretty dated as it was launched during the 90s. Hence, my dream car also need updating liao.

Jaschocolate: Mai too liao!!!!
