Was talking to Char and getting some pointers on car rental in France when I realised that it is much cheaper to book via telephone than via their website. To top it off, I don't even have to call the France office to book it. Just your own local Hertz will do. Thank Char!So there I was on the phone with the Hertz agent and I was rattling off my requirements like the required dates, automatic transmission, GPS Navigation, child seat etc. I was quoted 2 categories of cars.
1) Compact - Opel Corsa or Peugeot 307
Price = € 398 after AsiaMiles member discount.
2) Premium - BMW 530 or Audi A6
Price = € 603 after AsiaMiles member discount.
Actually hor, over the phone she got mention the Jaguar X-Type which made my heart jumped a bit when I heard it but then later the fax quotation come, don't have. T_T

On another note, I was comparing notes with Char who would be renting from Paris and she is getting the Mercedes E220 for only € 475. Wah raoz!!! No fair!!!! I suppose prices in the bigger cities are cheaper due to the fact that they have bigger fleets and more intense competition. Marseilles, where I will be flying to, is considerably more "ulu" in comparison.

If you actually get the Audi or the BMW, then you should go for it (unless you've already done so?!)... i don't trust Peugeot cars at all. we booked a small car when we were in Oz and they ran out, so they automatically upgraded us to the next size up (actually, i think it was 2 sizes up) - brilliant! :) but aussies are quite relaxed, unlike the french. hm. :)
