I was just writing about taking a breather in the midst, from time to time, of our fast-paced life to enjoy what we have around us, when mht correctly summed it all up in the Comments, by saying that we should "slow down 'to smell the roses'".Then Jaschocolate, in her attempt at humour, quipped that "Provided it is roses we are smelling and not shit... lalalala......".
My initial reaction was "Wah raoz! What kind of a kok comment is that?!? Who in the right frame of mind would purposely want to go smell shit??!?"
I spoke too soon...
The article, on the left (click to enlarge), was taken off the South China Morning Post dated 7 Mar 2006. It reported that Japanese researchers have managed to extract the sweet smell of Vanilla out of cow dung.
If this things becomes a commercial success, then by josh, we'd all be smelling shit!Here's a little lesson on the Hokkien language. Smelling shit would be "Pee Sai" in Hokkien, which coincidentally has the same pronunciation as the other "Pee Sai" i.e. Nose Booger..
And speaking of "Pee Sai" of the booger definition, I have 2 jokes to share.

mht: Acherly hor, cow dung smell is very common since we have quite a lot of greenery (esp lawn fields) back home.
Also the fact that when you have kids and you bring them to the zoo and farms pretty often, you more or less immune to it liao.
In the cows' defense, they smell better than duck farms.

I think after this episode, suddenly, all vanilla food products will disappear from the shelves...think ice-cream, pastuerised milk, vanilla cakes...and best...vanilla frosting and cream 32.
